Which means ’tis the freakin’ season for holiday dressing. Like get all did up in head-to-toe suits with your favorite gal pals and hit the tree farm kind of dressing…

Which brings me to today’s extra special blog post — the December Issue of the new series that’s focused on continuing the dialogue month over month about all things style : Stylelogue.

ICYMI : The Skinny on Stylelogue

Stylelogue is a monthly series created by three women styling current trends with their own unique and individual flair : Elisa Yip of E for Elisa, Mary Krosnjar of Sportsanista and yours truly, Cortney Bigelow of The Grey Edit.

The three of us met through blogging and have since become friends beyond the digital space. With our combined passion for all things fashion and connecting through style, we decided to collaborate in a way that would inspire our local Seattle community and beyond. 

Exactly one month ago today this exciting new concept was introduced to the world via three inaugural posts (see mine, Elisa’s and Mary’s). You can expect to see our take on a current trend each month via our own blogs to continue the dialogue on style.

Which brings us to the second Stylelogue trend… the December issue —  Festive Suits. 

The December Issue : Festive Suits featuring Scotch & Soda

We are beyond excited to bring you this month’s trend in collaboration with one of our favorite brands that exudes curiosity and worldly wonder — Amsterdam-based couture label, Scotch & Soda. 

Earlier this year Seattle was gifted a second location of this euro-retailer offering a unique variety of clothing and accessories for both women and men — and in the best location too.

Elisa, Mary and I had the pleasure of working with the amazing duo heading up the Capitol Hill store to view the new Fall/Winter collection and pull together the perfect pairings for our December holiday-themed Stylelogue.

Major thanks to A&A at the S&S CH store for all of their help pulling together these looks! 

We felt Scotch & Soda would be the perfect choice for selecting vibrant, eclectic pairings to share with you. Each outfit sings festive carols by offering touches of holiday glam. From the layering, to the sparkle and the subtle colorings of red, gold and green — the suiting suits the month, along with each of our personalities…

About My Edit

It’s no surprise I like to stick to outfits comprised of darker tones and jump on any chance I get to introduce a bit of edge. Which is why I immediately gravitated to everything “star-spangled” in the Scotch & Soda showroom upon arrival. Inspired by the most beautiful dress I’ve ever put on (that’s still available in all sizes online), I knew I had to integrate stars into my look — because you know, stars on top of trees, stars on sides of pants, stars all over blazers… etc. :).

So I started with this star print jacquard blazer that offered the best tailoring, a slightly longer length and just the right amount of subtle sass. But while I was at it, I thought why not match a little star with star? So I flocked to these pants. Stunners.

Naturally my mind always thinks to pair louder pieces with neutral basics, but I decided to elevate my options a bit — and opted for a shimmery grey top (similar style available here). And to switch it up even more, I paired with an even louder pattern than would complement the burnt tones in the star prints, which led me to this beautiful plaid coat. 

This was it. The festive suit I’d been envisioning. And it of course played well with the others…

About Their Edits 

I love watching E in her element of styling. She somehow effortlessly managed to pull together a look that is straight out of a Gucci catalog within no time. Talk about style and grace. The orange and maroon striped suit paired over a delicate floral sheer blouse exudes the amount of confidence she has with her style. And you know she had the most perfect designer accessories waiting at home to pull it all together in one polished AF ensemble.

It’s also been incredibly fun watching how Mary pulls together looks as she brings a fresh take on Seattle style from her Chicago background. She was drawn to a monochromatic color scheme — holiday green on green — with various textures of satin, sparkle, wool and a little rockstud. I loved the pastel coat she chose to tie together her nude heels with the overall green hued look — and of course the signature striped collar, which screams sportsanista! Love it so.
