Happy 1st of the month, friends! I don’t know about you, but I feel like January literally blew by. It was like we celebrated the new year, watched a few award shows, gasped multiple times a day from the news and then bam — it was over. And here we are in February, a new month filled with more news, but also (silver lining) the month of love :).
As we bare through the winter weather in Seattle and act hopeful for the sunshine that gradually makes its way back into our lives, I’m sharing a few of my favorite ways to rock a shirtdress in the winter, which always makes me feel good.
Ah the shirtdress. A fabulous addition to your wardrobe that can serve multiple purposes and comes in a variety of styles:
Shirtdresses with collars can bring an element of both conservative and sexy. Take the white shirtdress I rocked earlier this Fall for instance. The sheer details make the piece romantic and playful, and even though a bit of leg is shown, the collar keeps it tasteful. There are a variety of options for you to choose from with popular trends being flannel, gingham and linen.
The long sleeve shirtdresses happen to be my favorite. Being a small chested individual like myself with a bit of longer leg on the bottom, I love the idea of showing off some leg while covering your upper half with sleeves and a high neck. The trick is to keep the legs a bit to the imagination though — because, well, who likes being even more cold than you need to be? So I’ve invested in a great pair of OTK boots that I can pair with various long sleeve shirt dresses. The black one I’m wearing above is a favorite because of its classic look and fun detail.
This style is one I love for a more casual look. Commonly made with cotton, these shirtdresses just make you want to romp around town. Pair them with your favorite pair of sneaks (mine happen to be my Adidas) and instantly you look cute and are ready for anything. I’ll be sharing this look in part 2 of this post later this week.
As I mentioned, the black shirtdress I’m wearing above is one of my favorites. It also happens to be a great look for the upcoming Hallmark Holiday, Valentines Day. Especially if you’re like me and love living in a world of neutrals. Whether you’re planning a romantic evening with your significant other or planning for a single ladies night out on the town with your girls, this outfit will take you to that perfect level of loveliness.
