It’s been one long year. Last Winter I told myself that by this Christmas I’d pull the trigger on my first over-the-knee (AKA OTK) boot by Stuart Weitzman. I was pretty set on the tan Rockerchic and then transitioned to the Lowland, for its sexy practicality. When I tried the boots on with Trevor during our trip to Australia however, he was awestruck over the Highland… naturally. SO much that this December I was gifted with the very long awaited, every so soft and beautiful OTK boot.
Swoon!
Though a #trendingnow item, the OTK boot has been around for some time — the 15th century to be exact! What began as a popular riding boot for men evolved into women in the 1960s rocking the look. Think Spy Who Shagged Me. Shortly thereafter Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent were two of the first designers to jump on their own take, redefining their look over the years.
IMO Stuart Weitzman’s OTKs are the perfect mix of quality and style that you want in a pair of boots. He mixes perfect shape, delicate tie detail, a silky lining and even goes on sale, a lot! I’m SO excited to have this new pair of shoes to my collection and can’t wait to style over jeans, leggings, with shirt dresses and skirts galore.
The Outfit
This flounce skirt was a little last minute snag from Zara (yes, I have those a lot). But seriously guys, you must head over to their Winter sale if you haven’t already. I paired it with one of my many grey sweaters and details including my Love Token Duster I scored at the Rack, my trusty Marc Jacobs sunnies and my new Cluse Watch I also got for Christmas. Check them out if you haven’t already – minimal design from Amsterdam at the best price point
In summary, if you’re looking for a great investment boot to add to your Winter collection, I highly suggest going with Stuart. Get in a couple of months wear now and then preserve in your closet for this Fall. I promise, you won’t regret it :).
