Get To Know Me
So apparently it’s already almost Fall. Where oh where does the time go? Oh wait, I think I was busy birthing a child… haha. Seriously though, it seems like just yesterday Summer was beginning. But now we’re onto a brand new month and a whole new reason for trend storytelling. In honor of the seasons changing from warm to cool weather, and check being a persistent pattern in the world of fashion… the Stylelogue gals are here to bring you your September Issue — Transitional Plaid.
SHOP MY EDIT
When it comes to styling patterns of any sort, plaid stands out as the most classic and essential — especially when it comes to Fall. Checks of all kinds are flooding the stores around this time of year (and even the runways). We’re seeing bigger, bolder, better color mixing and the best options for layering. This is oh so appropriate for your cooler weather styling needs. That’s right… the plaid top you’ve owned for years might actually pair well with the new plaid pants you scored recently. And that jacket? Pile it on, girl!
#ProTip : plaid and tweed mix V well together this season
Now speaking of jackets — I’d like to highlight the plaid blazer as a great elevated basic for Fall. If you’re new here, elevated basics are pieces that pack versatility, quality and edge. It’s that trusty pair of denim with the frayed bottom. The mock neck top with ribbed detail. Or in this case, that oversized plaid blazer.
SHOP THE PLAID BLAZER EDIT
When it came to finding the perfect plaid pieces for this “almost Fall” look, I was excited to pair — you guessed it — neutrals. This black and white check blazer offers a grey look and I love the double breasted button details for a modern touch. When I found this white plaid blouse I knew it was meant for wearing underneath. I then decided to go a little out of the box with these pants — offering pops of navy and marigold.
The accessories called for — you guessed it — my fave neutrals ;). I pulled my go-to black pair of sunnies with a slight cat eye. For shoes, I went with a mule as it’s not quite officially boot weather yet — adore the brand Mercedes Castillo and the unique cuts of this pair. And finally, I am IN LOVE with elevated handbag brand OAD so was very excited to style my new grey pocket tote with the look. It is the epitome of versatile and can be worn as a tote or satchel.

Now let’s dive into my fellow stylish female friends’ looks —
SHOP ELISA’S EDIT
Miss E for Elisa always outdoes herself. I knew she was going to bring the heat for our very first September Issue and sure enough, she did (and she was actually overheating in her layers during this shoot). There’s so much to say about these choice pieces. The stripes down the pants are head turning. The denim top with bow detail is western chic. And this jacket? Though hotter than hell, it was the perfect addition. Don’t even get me started on the brand new Chanel backpack she’s sporting… well done, E.
SHOP MARY’S EDIT
I also can’t deny that Mary knocks her styling out of the park in the most on-trend way possible. She’s sporting a two piece plaid set in a muted red hue perfect for Fall. Throwing on a crochet top was the perfect end of Summer touch. And then those boots… OH the boots. Scored at the recent Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and added to this outfit as the bright red icing on the cake. I adore how it all came together.
If you can’t tell by the photo above, we’re still having fun bringing you these stories month over month. It really hasn’t gotten old. I love how each month we test our styling capabilities, but also seem to always pull looks that truly speak to who we are. You’ve got C styling basics and minimal color. E pushing the boundaries with cuts and high fashion. And M sporting the latest trends in the most polished way.
If you’re loving the series as much as we are — drop a comment below with your fave trend out of our now ELEVEN Stylelogue Issues.
And be sure you’re following the #seattlestylelogue hashtag on Insta and use it when you rock the transitional plaid trend!
