So, April is finally here.
Fresh blooms… warmer air… and well, you know… a little bit of rain.
After living in Seattle for almost ten years now, I can honestly say that the rain is just something you get used to. It’s the reason this city is said to be of an emerald color — and once you experience the pure lushness it truly has, the constant sprinkle has quite the appeal.
When I began concepting for this blog about two years ago now, I knew I wanted to create a brand that aligned with not only my style but my surrounding.
Living in a city that sometimes seems like an untouched secret. Finding beauty amongst the overcast skies and dull tones.
My sense of style really came into being after living in Seattle. I learned quickly that I felt the most comfortable in shades of black, grey and white. It felt natural to who I was. I loved the feelings that evoked when I wore them together — power meets practical meets timeless.
So when the words grey and edit kept popping into my mind as representations of both style and surrounding, The Grey Edit was born. And I haven’t looked back since.
When I started The Grey Edit, it was to fulfill a desire of wanting an outlet for creativity. I wanted to write, I wanted to share, and I wanted to inspire. I wanted to explore every ounce of my style and allow for it to grow as I grew older.
I’ve always been a sucker for branding. I love the psychology behind it — it’s fascinating. To be in love with a brand is so much more than liking the product it produces. It’s about the feeling the brand evokes when you wear or use it. People become loyal to brands when it feel like a natural fit. A straight up extension of themselves.
So recently when I decided I’d make more of an effort to grow my brand, I’ve been thinking a lot about the standard I wanted to set. Defining my style, standing behind what I truly believe and making a promise that I stay true to that in my content and with whomever brand I choose to work with.
Blogging has quickly become an area where truth can be lost, and sponsorships can take over. So my promise to you, my followers and my friends, is that what you see here, is an expression of me and my brand — The Grey Edit — and nothing else.
Which leads me to an exciting partnership I’m dying to share with you.
Last month, a lovely new brand was born to Seattle. A brand that’s all about creating things that are beautifully designed, well-made, and that just straight up make you feel good. Things that are a necessity to every day life, that act as an expression of who you are. That natural fit.
Introducing : Certain Standard
Creators of the new luxury umbrellas that you’ve been missing from your life. Creators of what is soon-to-be, so much more.
They’re local, they’re a brand you can stand behind, and they’re straight up doing things different.
I was thrilled to get ahold of one of their umbrellas to add to my collection of accessories and to share the amazing product with all of you.
Haven’t you always wanted an umbrella you could be proud of?
Now you can have that and more.
Certain Standard umbrellas come in two sizes — small and large — and a variety of colors with names that each have a story. Each comes equipped with a signature Portuguese cork handle, a powder-coated steel shaft, a UV coated canopy and a reinforced fiberglass and composite frame. Designed in both Seattle and London and available for sale online and soon in a local showroom — this is one piece of luxury you won’t want to pass up.
I naturally gravitated to the Gramercy Large in Black — because my style and because NYC.
Obvs.
And wait, here’s the best part…
They have a giving program.
I know, right?
Seriously tho — this new brand has it all going on. They make products for people who give a damn about the things they carry and the impact they have on the world. Their giving program allows you to choose where a portion of your purchase goes to — Global Nomads or Nest— two organizations that believe humanity, connectedness and creativity can make our world a better place.
By now you’re probably anxious to learn whether there’s any special offer for followers of The Grey Edit.
Well, I’m excited to share that there is — TWO in fact!

Thank you Certain Standard for allowing me the opportunity to work with you. And for changing the way we think about products for our every day life.
Yours truly,
// cb ✌????
