When Trevor and I got an invitation from one of his friends to attend his wedding abroad in Italy, we were elated. We try to do one big international trip each year and with the timing being in October, it would allow us the excuse to make a larger vacation around it.
The wedding was taking place in a small, cliffside town called Orvieto — located in the Umbria region about 90 miles from Rome. Neither of us had heard of it before but we were oh so excited to experience the Italian countryside, as we had experienced mostly coastal towns during our honeymoon back in 2015 — my first time ever in Italy.
Italy is honestly the place that I think of the most often when reminiscing of our travels. I loved everything about our time there. The beautiful language, the gorgeous people, the insanely good food, the smells of vanilla and of course, the wine. My most favorite of our honeymoon stops was Positano, which I might have to go back and make a travel guide about soon — because it. was. the best.
We arrived in Rome on a red eye and then took the first train out from the Roma Trevino inland to Orvieto. It was a relatively easy trip and we got plenty of sleep on the plane and train to make sure we were alive and ‘wedding guest ready’ for the activities over the first two days of our trip.
#ProTip : always travel in ROKWOLF — the jetset joggers and the layover longsleeve were not only the utmost comfortable, they were stylish too 🙂
Upon arrival to Orvieto, we cabbed up to the beautiful La Badia Hotel where the wedding party and guests were scheduled to stay. It was gorgeous. The ancient abbey had 22 rooms and 5 suites that overlooked the courtyards and hills full of olive trees and grapevines. It felt like a castle nestled up in the Orvieto hills.
On night one we had the pleasure of getting to know all the family and friends of the soon-to-be-newlyweds during a pizza party in town at an amazing restaurant called Il Dialogo Ristorante. Talk about a welcome gathering. It felt surreal sipping Italian wines and eating pizza in this town on night one.

The morning of the wedding day, Trevor and our good friend John (Trevor’s best man), wandered the town of Orvieto. Though it was a little rainy, it was full of vibrance and character. We popped into shops, sipped wine and had one incredible Italian lunch tucked away at a family restaurant away from the small crowds.
Then it was wedding time. The rain died down and it was the most dreamy setting you could ever imagine. The ceremony took place in the hotel’s courtyard with a countryside backdrop and brick surroundings. The bride is a wedding planner and so every little detail was extremely thoughtful and oh so beautiful.
Trevor and I decided to match in black to abide by the semi-formal guest of wedding attire. I am in love with this lace number that I picked up during my recent trip to NYC for NYFW at the Lulus Style Studio.
I love a good high-low priced outfit, so I decided to glam the dress up even more with my favorite special occasion heels — my Valentino Rockstuds — and this on trend bucket bag priced under $60.

This was such an amazing part one of our October Italian/Grecian adventure. Stay tuned for the posts to come that share where we traveled to next.
