Breaking Down the Edit //

When styling a statement skirt, I like to pull from the colors in the skirt itself — and surprise, surprise… this tiger print skirt is comprised of neutrals, as is the other animal print skirt I own.

Blacks were a must, which is why I chose to pair with some of my favorite basics — a comfy turtleneck and black kitten heel booties. To add some more depth, I threw on some striped sheer socks from local tights brand Loho (similar found here), my favorite white versatile crossbody that also acts as a clutch and these faithful matte sunnies.

When shopping for animal print skirts, it’s important to keep some things in mind. First, make sure the print is close to believable. For instance tigers are light brown, not red… catch my drift? Second, be sure the quality and fit works with your style. To keep with the “animal” theme in this winter outfit, I threw on a vivacious faux fur — love this multifaceted option. When spring rolls around any day now, I plan on ditching the turtleneck, jacket and socks and replacing with a lighter tee. These statement skirts are the perfect transitional piece as they’re light, and can be worn with booties, sneakers or sandals.
