This last weekend I had the great opportunity to attend the annual fundraiser taking place here in Seattle benefitting the national non-profit Olive Crest organization — Wine Women & Shoes.
The event took place at the Fairmont Olympic downtown and was the 5th annual blending the unique elements of fun, fashion and philanthropy.
Sharing with you my experience at the gala, how I decided what to wear and the importance of fundraising this season.

This was such a fun event to attend as it felt like a night out with the ladies. A reason to dress up, uber downtown, drink some wine and most fun — shop!
I met my IGW (instagram wifey) Elisa of E for Elisa at the hotel and we took a few shots of our outfits around the area. It was a cool brisk night, the sun was going down and people were bustling from corner to corner getting off of work for the weekend.
When we stepped into the event, we were greeted by the friendliest men and women volunteering to make sure all guests had a superb time. We were given our packets for bidding for the silent and live auction, a map of all the local wineries pouring (swoon!) and information about the “best in shoe” competition — where guests will show off their best pair of heels. I missed the submission but the kindest women at the end of the evening told me I should have won! It literally made my night.
Ladies, let’s remember to always lift each other up. Paying this forward.
In addition to the auctions, competition and wine tasting, there were many vendors — including one of my local favorites Andieanderin, photo booths, amazing bites and the best cap to the evening — a runway show by local clothing rental company, Armoire!
But the most important element was the reason we were all there — to support Olive Crest in their quest to raise awareness of the urgent need for additional foster families in Washington state. More specifically, helping to transform the lives of children at-risk of violence through the healing power of family. There was the most heartfelt story shared by a family who grew their immediate family to ten because they were so dedicated to providing a good home to children in need. There were tears of joy and sadness to say the least.
It was such a meaningful evening and I so enjoyed mingling with other members of the local community for such a wonderful cause. Major thanks to Gossip & Glamour for extending the invite for me to attend and congrats to Olive Crest on the success of your fundraising!
This was my second time attending a fundraiser this fall and after much toiling over what to wear, I’d love to offer the following tips:
When in doubt, go black.
This is my favorite rule of thumb with dressing up for a cocktail or semi-formal event. Black elevates your outfit to a a sophisticated level and no doubt makes you look and feel your best.
The more details, the better.
Yes, the details ladies. I’m talking lace, sequins, asymmetrical cuts and studs. This will make you stand out from the masses and might even turn a few heads.
Want pop of color? Go for jewel tones.
With fall being full of subdued hues and warm tones, this season is best for colors in the jewel-tone family. Plus, you’ll be on-trend.
Pair it with a power coat.
Girl, it’s getting cold outside. That means pull out your faux furs, teddy coats, long wool beauties and dress for the weather. You want to feel warm walking in and good when you check your coat.
Don’t skip the statement shoes.
I’m a total shoe gal and if I can share with you one favored item from my collection — it’s these rockstud heels. I feel so amazing when I wear them and get the most compliments. I know an investment shoe sounds a bit ridiculous at times, but believe me when I say, every girl should have a pair of shoes that make them feel the most confident and beautiful. You’ll have them on your shelf for special occasions and be honored to wear them every time.
With the holidays approaching fast, it can be easy to get caught up in the gift giving and dressing for fun events with friends and family. It’s such an important time however, to count our blessings and remember those in need.
Whether it’s sharing change with a talented street performer, volunteering at a local food drive or donating to a local organization that means something important to you — let’s remember to give back this season.
I’m honored to have learned so much this season about the some of the great local organizations driving change — The Boys and Girls Club and Olive Crest — and supporting their cause.
I’d love to learn your favorite ways to give back this season and what your favorite go-to looks are for fundraising events.

Happy giving this season.
