It’s one week into February which means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!
Don’t let this holiday sneak up without thinking up something special for the one you love. I know, I know, you shouldn’t need a Hallmark Holiday to tell you to prove your feelings, but let’s be honest — it’s one damn good reminder.
So here are some suggestions on gifts that show love. And if you’re needing to drop a little hint to your partner — feel free to pass along this link or leave your laptop open so he sees ;).
I am a firm believer that cards can mean the world. Sure you can say it in person, but there’s something about writing down your feelings and being able to pass it along to someone you love so they can reference and look back in the future.
Trev and I save every card we give each other. In fact, he even keeps some in his work bag. He says he reads them before big meetings or when he travels as little reminders. It gives me all the feels.
Not every girl loves flowers. In fact, I don’t consider myself a big flower gal. But when it comes to romantic holidays or random ways to show affection — I eat that shit up. Or just things that smell good at least.
Rather than go with the typical dozen red roses for Vday, try going for a more unique pairing — like peach peonies, orchids… or roses that last all year. Maybe try a sensuous candle or perfume. Better yet, go wild with petals.
Guys — remember this statement. If you’re stressing the F out about what to get your lady, stress no more. You can never go wrong with jewelry.
At this point in your relationship, you should know what she likes to wear. Does she flock to gold? Does she love baubles? Is she a minimal kind of gal? Take note — always — and then when you go to Nordstrom next, tell the jewelry sales rep all you know. They’ll be able to guide you along the way. And if for some reason you think she might not like it, tell her you’d love to go with her to pick out something she does.
Experiences over things are always a way to impress. Planning something shows you’ve put in the extra effort. i
Is your babe a foodie? Do you research on eater.com to see the hottest new restaurants in your area and book a table for two well in advance. Not feeling the rose-on-the-table public setting meant for canoodling? Plan a series of events — maybe drinks at your favorite cocktail bar, a walk in the park to where you first met, a live performance or even a weekend getaway. And the kicker? buy her a dress for the eve out. She’ll die.
Not feeling like leaving the house? Much rather focus on sexy time? There should always be time set aside for sexy time :).
Leave her a note in the morning hinting at a little something fun planned for later. Make a playlist, plan for homemade surf & turf with a side of strawberries and extra whip. Dust off the silk sheets and throw some bubbly on ice. As I mentioned before, get creative with petals. Basically, anything you know that will get her in the mood. And of course fun little accessories can help ;).
She works hard. She deserves a break. And hell, she could use some pampering.
Why not book a little spa trip — perhaps couples facials. At home massages with all the best oils. Comfort her with a cozy robe that she can wear over a pretty lingerie set. Rub her back and feet — kiss her neck. She’ll melt.
So she’s a strutting fashionista who goes ga ga over gifts that she can add to her collection that you actually took the time to pick out.
How about a sexy pair of pumps for special occasions that she can add to her shelf? Or the luxe handbag that she’s been eyeing over the last year? If you save your pennies and want to make a big impact, try this one on for size.
Hope this helps plan for one extra day of love —
