Guys! We made it through the dark winter months! Staring off into the next few weeks where the sun plans to peek out more and more, the crisp air warms and spring officially graces us with its presence.

If you haven’t noticed — plaid has been a constant statement print during the fall and winter. Today, I’m here to share a little secret about rocking plaid into spring… specifically with this amazing vintage inspired coat I can’t get enough of.

Breaking Down the Edit //

Being in some what of a neutral daze this year, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of mixing browns and blacks. I love a good camel coat, but when I saw this unique blend of browns, tans and orange in this gorgeous brushed double breasted number, I had to jump on it. I know it would be the perfect complement to my wardrobe of blacks and whites.

The reason why I feel this is a good transitional weather coat to wear from winter to spring is because of the coloring. The subtle orange in the plaid really brings a freshness about the overall look. I was so excited to pair this with my favorite pair of wide leg white denim and my trusty black bodysuit with the mockneck fit I love.

The weight of the coat is just right too — perfect for defending against the colder mornings and the chill breeze in the evenings that come with early spring. And best yet, the price is right. You won’t regret spending with the long-term season to season wear you’ll get out of this elevated basic.

Accessorizing with MVMT, Cuyana and Franco Sarto //

Choosing the right accessories to pair with this coat was the most fun part. I recently had the opportunity to become a brand partner of MVMT — makers of modern day sunglasses and watches for men and women. I loved the way these geometric shades worked well with the structured coat, as well as this delicate bracelet watch that makes a big statement with its rose gold makeup and black face.

Another incredible brand I’ve had the honor to work with has been Cuyana — that aims to create minimal products of high quality that women can introduce into their modern wardrobe. This half moon crescent bag is made of the finest full grain Italian leather and feels like butter during wear. I loved the the blood orange color for spring — a pop of bright, yet muted tones with this outfit just worked so well.

And last but certainly not least — one of my favorite comfortable shoe brands, Franco Sarto. I’ve been SO into their collection of flats the last few seasons and was stoked to rock these tassel mules with this look. They scream sophistication and really act as the finishing touch on the revived menswear ready-for-spring ensemble. Don’t forget to polish it off with a burnt orange lip!
