Over the last two years, I’ve found myself gravitating to a specific style of top across the board… the mock neck. It’s not because I’m trying to hide my clavicle or cover up the goods. Rather, there’s something about it that offers a level of sophistication. It elongates the look while adding a polishing touch to any type of bottom. What is a Mock Neck?

Not familiar with mock necks? Let me break it down for you. A mock neck is essentially the turtleneck’s cooler cousin that offers a high collar, covers the neck, yet doesn’t fold over (as a turtle neck would). They totally had their moment in the 90s (who remembers the velour mock necks people?!) and are back… go figure!

The reason I’ve grown so fond of this wardrobe staple is two-part. First, they do wonders for any short torsoed body. Elongating, ladies. Second, it’s one amazing layering piece. I’m talking, under blazers, paired underneath a cardigan, worn under a slip dress. The possibilities are endless but honestly, they do quite fine on their own. This is why owning a selection in multiple neutral colors, materials and styles is the key. It’s like an enhanced version of a tee. Which makes this elevated basic one you won’t want to miss out on.
