Emerging designer handbag brands… I’m truly into them. 

Not only do they offer a breath of fresh air amongst the popular Gucci, Chloe and LV mix, they are at an affordable price point with a high level of quality and design.

Over the last few months, I’ve been on the hunt for a small, versatile black crossbody that I could wear while running errands in the morning, to meetings during the afternoon and out at date night in the evening. A handbag that would be treated as one of my prized designer bags, sitting on my shelf when I’m not styling with looks. A piece from a brand I would be proud to wear and excited to share. 

There was no hesitation when I stumbled upon the beautiful, unique brand — OAD New York.

OAD : Your New Chic, Versatile and Affordable Label 

Korean-American designer Sydney Suh-Lee had an impressive history of working with big names such as Kate Spade and Calvin Klein — but in 2015, she decided she would take the skills she learned and attempt to go out on her own. She saw a need in the marketplace for high style bags at an accessible price point that offered women both form and functionality — thus, the OAD label was born. 

Through OAD, Suh-Lee was able to showcase her love for minimal design — specifically geometric shapes and clean, practical lines — and ultimate function. Her line includes bags in all shapes and sizes ranging from belt bags to half moon cross bodies to full on totes. It offers a mix of versatile neutrals and punchy colors — perfect for any edit, and most importantly — you’ll find pockets and unique ways to organize the essentials thrown into your bag. 

The name OAD comes from the designer’s love for simple shapes — “O” for circles, “A” for triangles and “D” for half-moons. This proved true when she launched with five bags in her first collection reflecting these shapes.

The line is designed in NYC and manufactured in Seoul, South Korea in small batches, to maintain quality control. 

And the price point? As low as $215 and as high as $615. I’d say that’s a no brainer, ladies.

My New Fave Everyday Bag : The Mini Prism Crossbody

For my first OAD bag, I decided to go with something classic with a bit of edge, that screamed versatility.

The Mini Prism is just that. 

It’s small in size, massively adorable and is perfect for any occasion.

Size and Shape — 

Square shape with a triangle side, it can be used as a mini tote or a minimal satchel. Rock the flap out or in. It stows your phone, wallet, makeup, keys and oh — it even fit my camera. 

Ways to Wear — 

You can wear it over your shoulder, cross it over your body, hang on your wrist or place in your hand. Convertible AF.

Where to Wear —
