So what’s the word on the street? Fall.
Isn’t it funny how we tend to jump ahead from season to season before it actually turns?
But how can you not?
The subdued colors… the crisp air… jackets… boots.
I for one am pretty stoked on it more than ever this time around because I’m heading to New York Fashion Week for the very first time!
(insert high pitched scream here)
In any case, this time of year is a fun one because of dressing. You get to pair your favorite pieces from summer with those new pieces for fall you’re dying to wear.
But for those of you who are struggling with how to approach this confusing time of the year — I’ve got some tips…
Let’s face it, the weather plays tricks on us during August – September. 80 degree days followed by 50s with a chill.
And though it can be frustrating checking the forecast every day before leaving the house, here are some ways to keep your mind sane and your wardrobe prepped:
1. Flaunt the White Denim
Contrary to popular belief, white denim can be worn year round, and my favorite time to wear it is now. It’s still warm so the white feels appropriate and it’s getting chilly so the length serves a purpose.
#ProTip: wide leg is so hot right now and adds an extra breezy element
2. Introduce Bold, Subdued Hues
When I think of fall, I think burnt leaves and dying wild flowers, so now’s the time to introduce these colors into your wardrobe. Think olive, dusty blush, deep orange.
#ProTip: Martini Olive, Russet Orange and Red Pair are on the 2018 Fall/Winter Pantone Color Palette
3. Rock a High Neck
I looove a good high neck top. It’s not that I’m trying to hide my neck or clavicle or anything, I just think It brings an element of sophistication I go gaga over. This type of coverage screams readiness for cooler weather. And you’ll look cool too. 😉
#ProTip: go for a lighter material so you don’t overheat if the cool weather takes a turn to warm
4. Pop in Black Accessories
This might seem like an obvious Cortney move, but switching your accessories from white to black makes a noticeable statement. You’ll be ready to introduce new beautiful black leather pieces into your wardrobe that will take you all the way through winter.
#ProTip: heeled mules and a revamped black satchel are so hot right now
I’m obsessing over this outfit full of elevated basics and pieces that will take me from summer all the way to next spring.

There are many other ways to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall but the most important thing to remember while doing so is to make sure your outfits reflect you.
I’m a monochromatic, elevated basic loving gal and so this outfit screams my style
If you’re in flirty feminine prints, pop in some floral.
If you got those boho vibes going on, throw in a crochet bag.
… You gotta do you girl.
