It’s a brand new year of Stylelogue and this January, our trio decided to turn the amp up on the color wheel — playing with brights that truly make you smile amidst all the gloom. E, M and I present to you : Winter Brights.

Inspired by looks from the runway, we decided to each run with capturing colors that screamed loud and lit. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to pull this one off — but pretty sure we all rose to the challenge. Can you not feel this energy?!
The key to rocking brights in the winter is to pick a color that acts as your pop. From the pop color, you’ll want to find an opposite color that acts as a contrast and as a compliment.

So sometimes I play with color… and actually fall in love with the outcome. I wanted to keep some subdued tones in this winter look and then have a pop of ultra-bright as a contrast. I felt this yellow rain jacket was the perfect color to offset the army green faux leather shirt dress and the blood orange crossbody. Throw on a pair of bright white winter combat boots — and I was like, whoa that was way too easy! So I added these neon tights 🙂 call me Tonya Harding.

She knows how to “pull color”. Just check out her bag. What colors do you see? The ones she’s rocking from head to toe. I love her sense of adventure — she experiments and 95% of the time, it turns out amazing. Also, her puffer and boots are making me drool. Def on my elevated basics want list.

You’ve got to admire Mary for her willingness to play with trends and textures. The fact that she turned this occasion dress into a sophisticated, yet casual ensemble is impressive. The detail of this dress — from the polka dots to the chiffon — atop the bright fuschia mockneck… giving me all the winter chills. Good thing for that cozy coat!

Give it up for busting out that color during the first full week of the year. If this isn’t the kick you needed to boost your style game in 2020, I don’t know what is.
Major thanks to the W Bellevue for letting us have some fun in these looks around their ultra-modern indoor/outdoor lounge space, The Porch.
If you’re loving this month’s trend, be sure to join in the fun and use the hashtag — #seattlestylelogue — when you post your best winter brights
Beam bright!
