Here we go yo, here we go yo… so what so what so what’s the scenario?!
Well let me tell you.
It’s the mother effing new year and we’re kicking off 2019 with the third issue of Stylelogue featuring a trend that’s functional, head turning and let’s be honest — meant for the street.
This January, we got 99 problems but a puffer coat ain’t one.

This month, we decided to showcase ways to style the hottest coat of the season — the puffer coat.
#FunFact — the world’s first down jacket was actually created in 1936 by American designer Eddie Bauer as pure necessity over style. He wanted to encase feathers in a quilted jacket to provide him warmth during a mid-winter fishing trip, which ended up being quite challenging to create.
Well Bauer was definitely onto something with his ‘pneumatic jacket’, as there were many renditions of the functional coat throughout the decades to follow. And since last year’s NYFW, we’ve noticed the trend is here to stay — flooding the streets of New York to cool weather cities all over the world.
When seeking out the perfect puffer, we fell in love with the lightweight, two-toned and ever-so-stylish Gweyn coat by Canadian brand NOIZE. Since 1978, this PETA approved brand has been making accessible, long-lasting outerwear for men and women. They hone in on high quality faux fur and vegan leather details throughout every collection that are meant to keep you looking good and feeling warm all winter long.
The Gweyn coat comes in five colors and is priced just right under $100 — allowing you the freedom and means to come up with endless looks of layering and sass. Plus the adjustable bell sleeve and hem provide a level of customization to your personal style needs.

Now here’s how the three of us styled this one puffer coat…
When it came to picking out a color combo from the NOIZE Gweyn collection, I without hesitation gravitated to the black color with chili colored lining. I knew it would pair well with my monochromatic wardrobe and the pieces I had in mind to complete this look. Let’s dissect…
I wanted to take street style to a new level — at least for my taste — and incorporate feminine pieces mixed with on-trend statement accessories. The feminine items I chose consisted of the coziest top and bottom. The top being most luxurious and extremely well made cream cashmere cable knit sweater by my fave sweater designer, E for Elisa 😉 — I adore the mock neck and fitted waist. The bottom being a soft ribbed mid skirt that offers comfort and style with the front slit detailing.
To add in that perfect amount of edge, I started with my favorite purchase over the holidays — these white combat boots that I scored on super sale with the most beautiful gold accents. Mixed with the shearling belt bag for an in-the-moment look and the cat eye sunnies, I felt like the street was where I belonged (or the rooftop where we actually were).
Finally, I played with adding the best damn pom beanie to the look when I wanted a little extra layer. I’m obsessed with the many colors and styles — the perfect complement to any cool weather outfit.

Elisa’s choice of chili red was so on point to her vibrant style. The way she accessorizes with suspenders and red laces reminds me that fashion should be fun, especially when it comes to layering in the winter. I love the red on red look — also rocking a beautiful Nordstrom Signature sweater she designed. The starred hat and accentuated cat eye sunglasses make the polished après ski look complete. Someone give this girl a seat by the fireplace and a hot toddy!

Mary’s sheen satin ensemble mixed with colored stripes is so on point to her ‘fashion meets sports’ mantra. She throws together the perfect blend of casual cool. The sweater she chose — also another gem from Nordstrom Signature — looks straight from the Ganni runway. And I love the feminine pairing of the satin mid skirt — a great option for dressing up or down. Lastly, the sneakers and cat eye sunglasses pull this look all together for the street — with attitude.
