The Stylelogue gals are back just in time for a new season with a brand new trend focus. As the sun is making its way out to stay, it’s time to get outside. And fittingly enough, this month we’re excited to share with you ways to style swimwear as daywear. Introducing June’s Trend Story : Off Duty Swimwear.

Once again, we’re turning to the runways for inspiration for Stylelogue. Why? Designers are constantly getting inspired in their own ways to bring fresh, clever styling. Case in point, rocking swimwear via an outfit meant for the street vs the beach — see Gucci’s example here and Tory Burch’s here. Which is why we decided to frame this story around “off duty swimwear” styling.
Off duty swimwear means you’re taking your favorite suit and styling it with pieces that complement. It’s treating your one-piece as a bodysuit and your two-piece top as a bralette. Making these pieces often meant for the water, appropriate for whatever summer activities you might have in store that require showing a little extra skin.
Thanks to the brand Mossimo — Elisa, Mary and I were able to style some playful, yet edgy one-pieces from their latest collection for this shoot. We each chose variations of a sexy plunge and paired them with pants and jacket to make sure the looks had versatility and street function. I love that this American label continually produces on trend swimwear year over year. I’ve been a supporter since my high school days!
Sharing some of my favorite one-piece plunge options available now across all brands below. Perfect for off duty styling with whatever pieces you might have in your wardrobe —
Surprise, surprise… your girl opted for a black plunge one-piece to style with her wardrobe of neutrals. To add some flavor, which I always seek to do in a rather basic color palette, I opted for the following —
Lace detailing on the one-piece, summer-ready satin trousers with a front slit, a blood orange crossbody for a color pop and some rather strappy sandals with a detailed heel. As the sun isn’t quite here to stay in Seattle just yet, I chose a jacket that had a utility vibe to complement the beige colored pants. I’ve also been loving this black gem necklace for everyday wear and these gradient aviator sunnies from my collection.
I envisioned this outfit being worn to a weekend brunch or outdoor patio event, allowing the option of removing the jacket for rays. I loved how the look overall played well with my growing bump. And in case you’re wondering, I can attest the suit and pants are a perfect combo for a real baby or food baby :).

Elisa proved her amazing color palette styling ways again this month. She opted for a subdued hue floral pattern one-piece and managed to style with pieces of varying colors to complement. The result? A sassy streetwear getup. She makes me want to jump out of my neutral zone every time. The army green jacket works incredibly well with her turquoise slides. Not to mention the beige trousers align perfectly with her light pink sunnies and gorgeous quilted Chanel bag. Serious goals with this woman’s style AND designer collection. Someone take this girl out for a night on the town!

Loved Mary’s extra chic, ‘meant-for-the-yacht’, white on white look. It screams sophistication and makes me want every piece. She chose a marigold plunge one-piece that acts as her color pop in this modern outfit. The tailoring works well with her tightly toned frame and those slit pants offer the perfect amount of sexy. Her accessories scream edge and say “this girl needs a martini”. So someone get this girl one, stat!
