It’s officially March and I’m in straight disbelief — the fact that spring is just around the corner has me feeling ALL the feels.
In addition, this month kicks off the FIFTH issue of our Stylelogue series! And today, we’re bringing you a brand new trend story that’s a fresh take on the expected budding pattern very commonly seen each year around this time — florals.
What came together organically after deciding to do this shoot at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens were actually trends strongly represented at the SS19 Paris Fashion Week Runways.
This month we’re mixing our favorite floral prints with light warm-weather denim — and bringing you Garden Blues.

When the spring season rolls around, without a doubt we start seeing lighter colors and busier prints as our way of showing excitement for new beginnings and a fresh start. Florals are a common representation — and each year they keep getting better and better.
This year, we’re seeing lots of pretty colors, fine prints and florals mixed with paisley, bohemian and graffiti patterns. More daisies, budding bunches and vibrant bouquets. And when it comes to denim, the lighter the wash the better. We’re talking back to the early 2000s with bleached-washes and worn in details. Because wearing jean anything in the summer should be easy.
I love that we all naturally paired our floral pieces with this type of revived denim — and though it was a lot more frigid than we expected during this shoot at the gardens, we each felt the outfits would be perfect for a warm spring day.
When I began my search for this month’s look, I originally started off wanting to rock a floral dress. Especially because the denim I owned was getting more and more snug with my growing bump! But after not being able to find anything I loved, I came across this pair of leaf-printed denim (similar here) that I thought would play nice with a floral top and other accessories. That same day I found this wrap around daisy print top — the perfect representation of the fine print floral trend for this spring. It also offered a color scheme that allowed me to accessorize with cream and black :).
I recently acquired this elegant leather crossbody from Scottish luxury brand Strathberry and knew it would be the perfect touch. In addition, I had one of those “look both ways, grab shoe and run” moments at the Rack a few weeks ago and scored these gorgeous mules for $250 (still no clue how!). To tie these accessories together, literally, I opted for this pale yellow Something Navy skinny scarf that offered a paisley floral design.
The finishing touches included a longer tailored blazer that played well with the modern pumps and a brushed chrome cat-eye pair of sunnies for sass. The result? A flirty, yet sophisticated outfit that you can wear to the office and then to drinks with the girls — seated outside on a patio of course!

When it comes to color palettes — Elisa dominates. She always manages to combine hues that complement each other so well. The skirt she chose is the perfect, pretty pastel piece that allowed her to pull colors of lilac, light blue and fuchsia. Bold but oh so beautiful. Then you have her layering tactics that wow. A sheer top over a delicate lace bralette, feminine stockings worn underneath sexy, strappy sandals and a distressed denim jacket with added charm over the entire ensemble. The girl just kills it.

Mary surprises me each month as well with her on-trend focuses. She based her outfit off of such a perfect floral print that actually felt somewhat sporty with the color scheme. And paired with the added touches of a high-waisted wide leg (that fit her figure so well), a mint colored feather coat (another story from the runways) and the chicest beaded barrettes for flair. Her shoe and bag game always catch my eye — and these neutral beauties definitely have my attention this month.
