30 degree weather in Seattle… okay I guess our winters could be a little worse (ahem, Chicago), but it’s still effing cold. And for my ladies trying to get a night out on the town in, because staying cozy at home is just getting really boring — I got you. Here’s some tips on how to show some skin in the winter.
Showing Skin in the Winter
Tip #1 | Lace
Aside from being totally in right now, lace is simply put, a classic. It’s one of those fabrics that can make you look and feel sexy while being conservative at the same time. Not only does it allow your sun-lacking skin to peek through, but it offers endless opportunities for layering — the perfect styling for winter.
This top was an impulsive grab at Zara, because well, I pop in very regularly. If I see something in black that I love, whether it be trendy or not, I grab it. It’s just one of those things I’ve learned to accept in life: I. freaking. love. wearing. black.
Tip #2 | Slits
A cocktail event, a date night – both common opportunities to wear a cute evening dress. But what if you don’t want to show your legs because, well, you’re cold. And maybe you hate wearing nylons because, simply put, you feel like an old lady when you do. Well here’s a happy medium — pants with slits! SO fun, right??
I saw one of my favorite bloggers Brooke Carrehill of Notebrooke rock pants with slits on Insta earlier this spring, and I immediately wanted a pair. This New Years Eve I thought would be the perfect opportunity, so bam – Revolve Clothing FTW – I ordered and receive this pair by Backstage a day before I headed out to Vancouver for the weekend.
I love these pants. They’re comfortable, sexy and can’t wait to pair them with so many other things. Cold fashionistas: I urge you to buy now.

Tip #3 | Distressed Denim
This is probably a no-brainer, but what better time to show parts of your leg than with the ultimate pair of holey jeans or distressed denim? Black, white, blue… just do it. Everyone’s rocking the look and it’s one of those styles that you can easily dress up or down.
I love putting my distressed denim with heels for a chic look and with some of my fave Adidas sneaks for a more casual look.
