As a follow-up to the previous post within our mini series, Jenna and I are bringing you another resource on pregnancy. This week’s topic — tips on how to style your bump.
Truth be told — I’ve been dreading buying maternity wear. Not only is it a drag to buy items that you’ll only wear for a few months, but to have to buy larger items than normal is no fun either!
With that, I’ve been exploring options that work with my body type and expanding belly, that I can likely wear post pregnancy too. Some of my favorite brands to shop have been H&M and Free People, as the price is right and they cover a spectrum of modern to boho.
In addition, I’ve been introduced to DL1961’s maternity denim — which I love — alongside of the maternity brand Hatch Collection — which I plan to share more about in a future post.
Below we’re sharing various looks to carry you throughout the week — from daytime casual, work to evening and weekend events — with styling tips and favorite pieces.
When it comes to styling the bump throughout the day, you’ve got to put comfort first. Plain and simple. If I’m at home — I’m living in my go to athleisure outfits that with bump consist of Lululemon Align Pants and Alo Funnel Neck Sweatshirt. If I’m out and about for the day, then I’ve been resorting to a mix of dresses — ranging from stretch to loose, depending on the day. Then of course the icing on the cake is an elevated sneaker, which I’ve been straight living in my GGDBs.
#StyleTip : if you’re feeling like you might look like a stuffed sausage and your bump isn’t “cute” yet in a tight dress, throw on a cardigan of some sort. It elongates the figure and will allow you to still show you’re pregnant in your fitted first layer.

Now let’s talk workwear. If you’re a girl on the go moving from desk to meetings to post work drinks with coworkers or your boo, then you’ve got to put versatility first. Think pieces that make you look polished, yet are bearable to sit in for up to 10 hours. I was straight living in joggers and blazers for a good couple of weeks before discovering this go to pair of black maternity denim. It’s a switch to not be in high waisted denim and tucked in tees, but I’m loving the variety of longer tunic and top options that play well with bump.
#StyleTip : save your footsies by wearing a cute pointed flat throughout the workday, but pack a cute heel for the final hours in the eve.

Lastly (and finally) — the weekend! You’ve made it through the workweek and you deserve to enjoy yourself. Most of the time, that should mean kicking up your feet at home in your cozy AF robe. But, in the case you’re trying to make the most of your energy and stay social before baby, then you’ve got to put on a little sundress, girl! Put playfulness first. I’ve been gravitating towards plunge neck dresses (to show off the new assets, hehe) and loose, bohemian dresses like this and this.
#StyleTip : black is a naturally slimming color, so if you’re trying to hide the extra pounds you’ve gained, slip into a black sundress and strut with confidence. Natural accessories will also give you a pop of warm weather vibes.

It’s been an interesting new style challenge to get creative with existing pieces in my wardrobe and incorporate newness at an affordable price for these few months ahead, but it’s all a part of the journey!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or struggling to find items that make you look and feel your best, just remember these three tips of making comfort, versatility and playfulness as your focuses throughout the week — along with using the looks Jenna and I have put together to help guide you.
In addition, let us know how we can help! Styling is our forte, and we’re always down to take on a new client, whether that be a digital styling consultation or a closet refresh :).
