In case you missed it, we’re pregnant with our second! It came by surprise and so did the next part. Adding onto the pregnancy diary for Baby Bigelow number 2 with our gender reveal — a little family getaway and the big news…
We had been living in a small, Airbnb condo for the last three months so decided to book a family getaway. We chose Seabrook — the cutest coastal town off the Washington coast. We stayed in a rental right in town, within walking distance of all the adorable shops, restaurants and most importantly, the sandy beach. Our plan was to relax, get some fresh air, spend quality time with each other and share the news with Bo that he was going to become a big brother (his reaction in my baby #2 highlight here). The icing on the cake would be to go down to the beach and pop some confetti to find out the gender.
Looking at the weather, the first night of our long weekend would be the best, so the photographer in me was hoping we could pull it off in time for golden hour. We had arrived early, Bo was in great spirits, Smalls was pumped to roam the beach and Trev and I, well, we just couldn’t wait.
Now, being the older sister to two younger brothers, I’d always hoped I’d have a girl someday. A girl who was into dolls like I was when I was little. Loved to wear pink and dresses like I did (I know, right?!). Loved to go shopping with me like I used to with my mom. And Trevor? He was dying to be a girl dad. Someone who looked to him as the favorite for once, he’d say.
I knew with our first it was a boy. I just had that feeling. And this time, I had strong feelings again. It had to be a girl. Everything about this pregnancy just felt different. Little Olivia would finally come to be. I mean, Bo had been singing about a little sister for months now before he even knew we were pregnant.
So we walked to the beach in high anticipation. Bo still a bit confused as to what we were doing. Trev beaming ear to ear. Smalls running off towards the water. Me, setting up the tripod for the perfect backdrop with a racing heart. We clustered together, Trev and I held the disguised confetti poppers his sister had prepped for us after reading the results earlier and we let out a one… two… three…

We’re having another boy! As you can tell by the video reveal, we were all very shocked. But I guess it’s true what they say — every pregnancy is SO different. And all those wives’ tales about cravings and acne might just be wives’ tales for a reason. And though we were really hoping for the best of both worlds, we’re so incredibly pumped to have another little guy running with our crew next year.
I’ve honestly always had a feeling I’d be a boy mom. And as my fellow boy moms have reminded me, there are a lot of pros. We get to teach these young men how to treat women. We get to raise little boyfriends. We get to let dad handle the adolescence stuff. All the while, being rewarded a bigger self care/shopping budget, a few extra girls trips… standard boy mom stuff, haha.
Jokes aside, oh my goodness, our little family is growing and Trev and I are elated. Bo might still think there’s a chance little brother could be a little sister, but he’ll be reassured eventually. And as for a potential future little Olivia? Well, I already got the okay for a girl doggie in the future, who will accompany me to many ladies who lunch outings ;).
