For those of you who’ve taken my Style Edit Quiz and read my latest post on Bloggers to Follow by Style Edit, you’ll know my style falls primarily under the Modern Chic category.
Simply put — Iām a monochrome loving gal, a mix between classic and modern, who loves basics and playing with a bit of edge.
And when I put together this outfit for a shoot, I found it funny that it was the epitome of the style I just described and often resort to the most…
Modern Chic Styling
The key to modern chic styling consists of a few primary elements:
– a monochromatic, neutral palette
– modern tailoring and cuts
– crisp, clean lines
– mixed materials and texture
You want to convey a look that screams modern woman by pulling together updated classic pieces, with a bit of edge.
Elevated Basics… as I like to call them :).
Think a structured bag, a high neck top, a leather trouser or a tailored blazer.
Modern Chic Pieces
In this outfit, you’ll see various examples of elevated basics:
- the blush blazer is elongated
- the a-line skirt has a bit of texture
- the white top has an on-trend twist
- the bag has a unique structured shape
- the heeled sandals have a sexy cage design
- the sunglasses offer an ombre effect
- the jewelry is delicate and a mix of gold and silver
- and the red lip adds a pop of modern color
