Two weekends ago, I had the pleasure of spending the day at the hottest new hotel in town — Hotel Theodore.
What was originally know as the historic Hotel Roosevelt, is now a luxurious and newly renovated space owned and operated by the Provenance Hotels Group (responsible for a handful of boutique hotels across Seattle and Portland). The hotel design honors the city’s makers, builders and doers — something I can totally stand behind.
Hotel Theodore is situated in the center of downtown on 7th Ave & Olive — the perfect location for dining, wandering and shopping. When my girlfriend Elisa and I arrived to the hotel on an early Saturday afternoon, the streets were buzzing. The hotel had a few guests coming in and out — all looking pretty pleased to be spending their time in Seattle at such a cool new space on a sunny Winter day.
We were greeted by the friendliest staff at the hotel’s front desk. Samuel was our buddy for the day — helping us with our luggage, showing us to the most beautiful suite, treating us to brunch in the attached restaurant and escorting us to the rooftop and under construction penthouse — a to DIE for space!
Hotel Theodore has such a unique style — the decor is said to resemble Seattle’s pioneering spirit. The lobby has a very welcoming and charming old world style. The elevators made of marble and gold are polished and petite. The floors all house unique artwork — floor 17 where we stayed had an enclosed original Eddie Bauer coat, how cool right?!
I highly recommend requesting a suite if you’re looking for a serene escape atop the city. The bathrooms and bedding — swoon!
After E and I explored the hotel and got done up in our room, it was time to explore the new restaurant attached to the hotel for a bite and a drink — Rider.
The space, the food and drink at Rider are all inspired by the Pacific Northwest and all the region has to offer. They bring the forest to the sea and serve foods from their wood-fired oven and cocktails hand-crafted from freshly picked ingredients. The decor is lush yet rugged that offers a bit of warmth wherever you move — from the leather-filled bar offering an insane amount of natural light, to the fireside cafe near the lobby, all the way to the dining area that resembles a cozy kitchen with brass light fixtures, prominent subway tile and the most beautiful flooring.
I was able to get my favorite drink at the bar area while E and I waited for our table for brunch. She’s covering that amazing experience in another post on her blog — so stay tuned.
If you reside in Seattle or are planning an upcoming visit, I highly suggest you check out Rider, located inside the Hotel Theodore. The vibe, the food, the staff — are all top notch and will no doubt be an elevated experience during your stay.
And if you’re wondering about the outfit selection below — I owe it all to the most amazing local boutique in Seattle — Jarbo. You can check out their site here or shop their Seattle and Bellevue locations. I’m wearing the softest oversized turtleneck (on sale now!) and these insanely delicious leather straight leg pants.
Big thanks to Lauren & Nancy for helping us find the perfect pairings for our shoot! More on this local gem soon…
