What a surreal feeling. It’s the morning of July 18th… the estimated date that was calculated by my doctor back in November of 2018 after confirming I was pregnant of when our little baby would make his debut to the world. I can’t help but feel a variety of emotions and reflect on the last nine months that went by oh so fast. Hello due date…
Seriously, the time has flown by. It feels like just yesterday Trevor and I made a wish in the Trevi Fountain on our last night in Rome after a 10 day trip of a lifetime to Greece and Italy — that we would be blessed with a baby in 2019. Then a month later Trev telling me we needed to go buy several pregnancy tests because he was convinced I was pregnant. And sure enough, as we held hands and walked into the bathroom to view the test, we were surprised with joy our “baby making trip” had actually worked.

I’ll be 100% honest. I was terrified to get pregnant. For some reason I thought I would become sick, bed-ridden and unable to do any of the things I was planning to do at this transitional time (just recently leaving my corporate job to pursue being an entrepreneur). I thought my life would be put on hold and I was so afraid that the person I was becoming would change. Well, I’m here to tell anyone who may have these feelings that I was truly wrong.

Now I feel very fortunate with how my pregnancy has gone, as I know there are many women who do get sick and do have to slow down significantly. But these last nine months have truly been so much easier than I anticipated. Aside from the month of December feeling down, I was able to continue at my desired speed of a “girl on the go” up until this 40th week.

I have another post on this coming shortly — on how I stayed fit mentally and physically throughout my pregnancy — but the short version is that I stuck to my routine and made that a priority. Which in turn allowed for me to continue to feel like myself and have the output — energy, motivation and workload — I desired. And overall, has left me feeling positive and oh so beyond excited to welcome this new life into our world.
Trevor has been beyond amazing this entire time. From making sure I had adequate comfy clothes as I grew… to all the snacks and healthy dinners I desired. From building furniture for the nursery… to giving me input on the 25 rugs I ordered in hopes to find the perfect one. Overall, I’m just so impressed with how he’s been preparing himself for our new little guy. He’s established a morning routine in hopes to be able to set a good example. In my eyes, he’s already the perfect role model for Baby B, but in true Trev form, he’s giving this his all and it makes me so confident we are going to rock this parent thing pretty well.
In addition, the support I’ve received from so many women who have gone through or are going through becoming a mom has been overwhelming in the best way. I feel so grateful to have been able to talk to others during this time that can quite frankly feel very isolating. So thank you for those who have helped with all of your advice, encouragement and input along the way.
As I sit here with Smalls, who hasn’t left my side these last few months, I can’t help but feel excitement for our new life ahead. My fears on delivery are still there but the beautiful reality of what is about to happen seems to make them all feel insignificant.
Please think happy thoughts for me for a smooth and healthy delivery in the days ahead. I’m so honored to have you all share in this special time — thank you for being there to support me along the journey.

Special thank you to Aussie sleepwear brand Papinelle for sending this incredibly soft maxi nightie and extremely chic “baby mama” silk robe as I spend these last days in comfort waiting for Baby B. They’re packed in my hospital bag and are the perfect pieces to make a new mama feel oh so elegant as she waits patiently to meet her new boy.
