Even though it doesn’t really feel like it right now in Seattle — Spring is here.
That time of year when you have an excuse to introduce a little newness into every aspect of your life.
Fresh threads for your wardrobe… an upwards shift in your career… a sassy new hair cut and maybe a new twist on love — whether that’s a whole new outlook on potential suitors or a new approach on your current relationship.
New little life details can make a big difference on happiness — so I’m all about taking advantage of this excuse to do new and do you.
So let’s talk threads. Specifically denim.
Denim is an essential staple that just about every gal has to have. It’s classic, it’s versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down in so many ways.
Denim jeans and a tee paired with heels or sneaks… a denim jackets over a black dress or black skinnies… denim cutoffs with a pair of heeled or flat slides.
The possibilities are endless.
Simply put, new season calls for new denim. There’s always a new style or two or three that comes out that lends an opportunity for your unique personal style to shine.
As I like to call them — elevated basics. You’re going to be wearing denim anyways, so you might as well find a way to take an elevated approach.
This vintage vibe pair of denim does exactly that.
Added spice to the everyday go-to staple. Tonal-patch panels, light distressing, extra-flared legs and a chic crop.
Talk about a head-turner.
Which brings me to a little ode to New York designer Rebecca Taylor.
This New Zealand born beauty has an excessive eye for detail. She draws inspiration from her childhood living in a town by the sea resulting in ultra-feminine pieces full of charm.
You can usually spot a Rebecca Taylor item a mile away. And when you try on one of her blouses or dresses– the feeling of pretty is taken to an entire new level. Guaranteed excellence for your next party needs.
Which is why when I learned about her La Vie Collection, I got incredibly excited. Rebecca created this sister line so that women could wear her items during the day too. A collection full of cool casual wear filled with relaxed, versatile pieces, from denim and tees to blouses and dresses.
I visited Nordstrom a little over a month ago in search of a new pair of refreshed denim specifically from this new line. I wasn’t disappointed.
The styles were the exact bit of freshness I was seeking for a pair of denim to wear in the Spring. Something that made a statement and could be worn on days where the sun was peaking out.
Dropping my favorite pairs of denim jeans from La Vie below (including the pair I ended up with):
