Winter officially hits this week for us northern hemisphere dwellers. That’s right folks, the day with the fewest hours of sunlight is upon us this Wednesday. Brace yourselves.
The degrees have been dropping in Seattle, snow flurries and all. Great for snow bunnies, bad for commuters and ladies who like to wear heels ;).
Though our snow doesn’t tend to stay very long, the cold? Still there. Still really chilly.
There’s a plus side to living in a city that welcomes cold winters, however: dressing in your coziest, warmest winter wear!
I’ll be following up with a post on a few staple coats you should have in your closet for winter this year but until then, sharing the most important — the parka. If you’re in a city where it drops down to less than 30 degrees, it’s ????.
I rocked an awesome one last year from Zara: faux hooded fur, covering my body like a blanket, especially my toosh. Absolutely loved it. But this year, I had my eyes on an upgrade…
You’ve likely seen the brand floating around Instagram by your favorite bloggers. This brand has been around since 1957 and what was once known as a “purely functional, technical brand”, is now being worn by celebrities and influencers all around. We can thank Sundance and Kate Upton for that ;). Known as the “Land Rover of clothing”, the jackets are hitting every street corner, which if you live in New York City, you’ll validate this is true.
Knowing I’ve been eyeing this gem of a jacket, Trevor surprised me with the Shelbourne for an early Christmas gift. He’s good. Really good. “For the blog”, he says. *I melt*
Now that I’ve had the pleasure of wearing it for a couple of weeks, I highly suggest you go try one on for size. They’re hefty in price and definitely tops the scale for most expensive coat I’ve owned, but so worth it. Other styles I love are the Kensington for a more feminine look and the Trillium for a more masculine look.
Nordstrom has sold out of sizes and colors in stores and online. Neiman Marcus however, seems to have quite a bit of stock in both locations. Curious to see the loot for myself (and try on other styles), I visited Neimans in Bellevue. Sure enough they had plenty of parkas for women.
In talking to the sales woman who was helping me find each style, she expressed her confusion around how this brand suddenly was selling out everywhere. “Moncler is usually the leading jacket each holiday season”, she told me. “Fashion bloggers and Instagram”, I told her ;).
So don’t wait any longer — grab yours for the winter season and join the craze. Fashionable + practical at the same time.
