Welcome to The Grey Edit. I’m pretty excited you’re here.
History has shown that as I enter a new decade in life, I begin searching for a new meaning. As I danced through my twenties, I sought after change and constant excitement — all the while documenting it (RIP upper20something.com). As I ease into my thirties, I find myself in a similar situation, with yet another domain ;).
A lot has happened in my life over the last few years. I met the man I was going to marry… a fur baby came into our lives… I entered a new part of my career… we bought our first home… true adulting at its finest.
I’ve given into the fact that I’m in my thirties, somewhat settling down. I can’t kick it like I used to. I kinda just don’t want to anymore. And I’m pretty content with this fact.
Except I’m not that content. I don’t think I ever will be and I’m coming to realize that’s not such a bad thing. Because you should always try to create a better version of yourself. I mean, what’s the fun in just settling?
We all have a purpose. We all have natural talents. I was born with creativity in my blood and lately I’ve been seeking a creative outlet. This blog will be the canvas for that.
The Grey Edit is an evolving collection combining three passions into one:
- Photography. Putting the camera I bought myself years ago to use. Experimenting out in the environment. Utilizing my eye for design, documenting here and telling stories through photojournalism.
- Fashion. Working to perfect my style, which honestly has always been pretty safe. When it doubt, I go for black and go for classic, because classic never goes out of style, but I’m craving more edge. More fun. More risks. Less clutter. More investments.
- Lifestyle. Making it chic, keeping it playful. Putting effort into a beautifully decorated home, the feeling of a healthy body, traveling the world, being surrounded by those you love and having my ears filled with fresh beats. I hope to share the journey.
In short, this blog was created to showcase a transformation—an edit rather—of a life in a city that is ever so charming and grey. My hope is that I can inspire and influence those around me to seek the best version of themselves while living a beautiful and creative life.
Everyone has en edit, I’m here to help you find yours.

More on Cortney Bigelow:
I began as a midwest girl, born in Chicago and raised in the suburbs. After my family relocated to the great Pacific Northwest, I attended Washington State University to study Advertising and Architecture and after graduating with my BA in Communications, I decided to start my adult life in the city of Seattle. I always thought I’d move back to Chicago at some point, near family, near friends, near the most amazing downtown, but I fell in love with this place, and I fell in love.
My husband Trevor is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He’s charming, he makes me laugh and I love the life we’re building together. We recently bought our first home in the city and plan to eventually start our family in it. For now, our French Bulldog Smalls doesn’t mind being the center of attention.
I crave fresh air, balance and adventure. I have a love for a lack of color and things that sparkle. I’m indecisive and usually take a good ten minutes to order off a menu. I tend to over-share, but am really good at keeping secrets. Shoes are my weakness, and so is gelato. I love being in an environment that inspires creativity. I also love adventure and cramming my calendar with activities.
I started this blog on my 31st birthday as soon as I woke up. I thought to myself, “there’s no better time than now”.
